Connect China Au Pair belongs to the group Connect China Co.Ltd. It was founded in 2015. The intention of Connect China Au Pair is to promote the cultural and language exchange between young foreign professionals and Chinese families.
The term au pair comes from France and means "at par" or "equal to", that indicates that rather than being a domestic worker, the au pair is supposed to be treated as a member of the family. Mostly common in Europe and North America, the au pair comes from a foreign country to work for, and living as part of the host family. The au pair should take some part of the childcare and housework responsibilities. Normally ageing from 18-26 years old, these young professionals seek for a cultural exchange of 6 or 12 months rather than long-term career in childcare. As well as all the costs being paid while living in the host family, the au pairs also receive a monetary allowance for personal use. Unlike other countries, in China the au pair focuses on English language teaching.

“Connect China Au Pair helped me to find the right family in China to work for. Being able to know such a different language and culture is priceless. I really miss the host family I was working for and the special little girl, Molly, whom I spent most of my time with. Thanks for everyone involved in this amazing experience that I had! These past 12 months will be ones I will never forget.”

“I loved everything I saw in China apart from the air pollution. After this au pair opportunity, I could get a nice part time job here in England while I am still studying. Not many young people get this opportunity, and I feel lucky to be a step forward in my life because of that. I believe my hard work and dedication will now lead me towards a great career.”

“Working in China was very good. The Chinese mentality is indeed very different to what I am used to, but for me it was a period of learning and growth. Now, I understand people much better than before. I have gained valuable people skills, and feel like I can now work with just about any type of person, despite their beliefs and mentalities differing from mine. I believe that this will help me to form positive bonds and bridge professional relationships within my own industry, while heading in the direction of a new career.”

“Though my time in China was only six months, I learned a lot! I loved the food so much. My favourite dish was 宫保鸡丁 (kung pao chicken). Thank you Connect China Au Pair and my host family for an experience I will never forget!”
